Falling is a mechanic in Raft. Falling from certain heights deal damage to the player.
Falling happens when the player jumps from a height that allows them to be airborne for 1.4 seconds or more. As such, fall damage is based on air-time and not height. Players may experience this detail if getting stuck on a piece of equipment after which the fall animation starts playing. Successfully dislodging themselves will trigger the landing animation and damage is taken for the duration "airborne".
The base fall damage is set to 10 (for 1.4 seconds of air-time), whereas the maximum possible fall damage is capped at 50. As such, a player can never die from falling while at full health, regardless of how long they were in the air.
