The Research Table is an item classified as Other in Raft.
Summary[ | ]
The Research Table can be used to research new items and tools through adding resources in its interface. It can be used to discover items that cannot be crafted when starting out, such as the Scarecrow and Lantern. Place researchable items (see below) in the interface slot of the Research Table and research the item. Researching the item consumes it, which means the player will have to gather an extra of whatever Material is needed when building an item the first time. Inside the Research Table is a list of items that the player can learn how to craft. Once all the required Materials have been researched, the player may unlock an item making it available in the craft menu.
Originally, Blueprints also required that the player inserted these to be researched, however this added the problem of players losing their blueprint before being able to research it leaving them no legitimate way of learning how to craft the item in question. To resolve this, Redbeet Interactive made Blueprints automatically learnt upon pickup. As such, all Blueprints have become more of a collectible item.
Each update, new items requiring research are added. Some of them might need new materials to research.
