The Steering Wheel is a Navigation item in Raft.
Summary
The Steering Wheel is acquired through the Blueprint: Steering Wheel found on the Vasagatan. After researching the blueprint, players may build and place a Steering Wheel, allowing them to rotate their Raft in any direction they wish. It does not need any power. The Steering Wheel is best used in combination with an Engine, as the player would still be reliant on wind and Sail without it.
When releasing the wheel towards upright position, the steering wheel will automatically reset itself to avoid drifting slightly off course.
Uses
- Turn the Steering Wheel to change which direction your Raft is pointing.
- The Raft will keep turning as long as the Steering Wheel is not reset to the upright position.
- Can be painted any colour with the
Paint Brush.
Tips
- Steering Wheel can still be useful without the Engine to position the Raft in a way to maximize collection of Flotsam.
- Steering Wheel can also be useful in combination with Sail when you don't want to turn on the Engine for various reasons: while having the Sail looking straigt ahead, you can adjust the movement of the Raft along the wind by rotating the wheel instead of the Sail itself.
